Taking shape-changing ideas and altered directions

While I am working on my Iron Angels, many pictures as well as ideas come in to my head and then the designs expand from there. I am having a great deal of fun playing in this steampunky place! I also think that this play will in turn reflect back on my angels when I make another one of those.
To me this is like doodling or journaling, but not writing or drawing the images, but actually making them.
I used to think I wasn't doing it right if I made things this way. Now I realize that it just might be the way ideas develop for me.
The only thing really wrong with it is that you end up with tons of pieces.
This is one of the brooches that came from that play!
Here are the angels.

  2. Just because they are 'play' doesn't mean they are not amazing pieces! You should make them available for sale!

  4. I love them all! Never think about what's "right". Do whatever comes to you. Anything that keeps the creative juices flowing is the "right thing to do". Bravo, my friend!

  7. Isn't it funny how one thing leads to another? A couple years ago I thought I was "it" with making grapes from clay...now the painted ladies have taken over!!! Theres even an idea...a painted lady with grapes...sorta carmen miranda!! lol. Marie...as always you work and now your "play " is awesome! Big hugs to you Beth

  17. Steampunk IS a difficult art to not only do but do right without easily going into overkill. I guess thats one of the reasons i have never gotten into doing it myself. Yet you do it so well. I think this is a good look for your already great looking angels.

Intense in true punkart style yet still powerfully alive with feeling too. Excellent love it.

  18. Ooh, impressive, Marie! That's a great copperish color, and I like the jewel on her forehead, like a crystal bindi. Pencil, pen, paint, clay, fabric...does not matter; they are all art media. You do such wondrous things with clay, and it's thrilling watching your ideas come to life in 3D!
