A Sacred Heart for Ellie

I am posting this late because I just finished it last night, the pictures are not that great, but I won't have it shortly,  and I don't want my friend to see it before she gets it.

I will see her soon and I will give it to her for her birthday.
I love this piece and I think I am going to make more.

Very fun, but I have a lot to work out yet.
This friend will not mind that it is rough.

She will have the first one.
We like the same things and I am so glad to have her in my life.

Heart of America- Broken Heart- the story

I have a friend that has dreams. She dreams about designs, for me!
I love this.
She "saw" this sacred heart I did.
This one...

This is one of my favorite pieces.

My friend will send me a message and maybe a small description, but what comes across to me though is a feeling and a light in my mind's eye of the beginning of a design starting to come to life. Well... my friend is very tuned in and she had another dream quite a while ago, only a month or two after the sacred heart dream I think.

She wrote me a note with a small description and quick doodle to go along with it.  

I loved it and I said I would get right on it.

Sometimes, though, my brain doesn't cooperate with my plans and I have learned over time that somethings can not be rushed, ever. If I do rush it will only be a part or a piece of the full manifestation of what could be something truly wonderful if left to incubate for a while and cook!

I didn't say anything to my friend and kept up with everything else that was going on and pretty much let go of making the dream a reality right away.

Last week though, that dream was resurrected with a flash of a picture and the idea in my mind flashing in neon and would not give up until I went and made it.

This is the result of this collaboration my friend and I have.

I believe these are special pieces, there is just something about them that speaks. Maybe it is the gift of collaboration, listening to another speak their dreams and being able to bring them to reality.

To antique or not to antique... part 2

Well, it seems that more people prefer the antiquing than not and I agree most of the time.

I am liking this one though, very much. I have the brightness that is so typical of wonderful Mexican art, but my little skulls pop right off the piece.

To antique or not to antique...

That is the question...sometimes it is so hard to decide.

I like the definition the antiquing brings to the piece. The colors darken a bit.

I like the bright colors though too.

Well, sometimes you feel like a nut... sometimes you don't.

I know it sounds silly, but it moved me. This is before I saw the card and read it. Sometimes you just gotta fly by the seat of your pants.

I signed up. I was enticed by what she called "raven vomiting diamonds". I know, weird thing to be enticed by, but I love ravens and if they are regurgitating diamonds it can not be a bad thing.

And then I forgot about it.

A week later I got the card you see at the top. There was no description when I signed up, only her words, "Raven vomiting diamonds". I love the card, it is a Canadian card, sent from Scotland, to the USA. With a cute note to me from Purest Green. How cool is that? And my world is way bigger.

Well, I am a visual person, when others are talking I get visuals like a movie screen in my head that spits out images. Some times this is good and as you can imagine, some times it is very interesting. I really don't think about it much, it just is and always has been.

This time it was good.

You know that frame I told you how to paint. Well... this is what happened to one of them.
