Something else I got side tracked on

Halloween cupcakes!
I was making molds and had to try some of them out.

I got stuck here for a while, I made one for everyone on the Sandy Camp committee. I really appreciate all of these ladies.

No wonder I do not have enough time for everything.

I keep adding stuff to my list. ;-D

Finally Friday- whew

I have been trying to get ready for our guilds yearly retreat, Sandy Camp.
It is challenging with a bouncing 2 1/2 year old that has no idea why I am ignoring her. Like I would. She has finally lain down for a nap, thus my frivolous time writing a little blog. ;-D
That is why I haven't been posting in the morning, I usually schedule posts the night before. I finally get to work after dinner and that is what I am doing when I should be writing my blog.

I always get a slew of ideas when I am writing a how-to, preparing for a show, getting ready for a class, packing for a trip, or anytime I am trying to focus on the impending job at hand that I am running out of time for.
So what I wanted to show you is a piece that came out of that time.


I have a few sculpts that I did years ago and I was making molds from them to sell in the Sandy Camp store. This one has always been a favorite of mine.

A happily content Green Man in the Cernit Nature color Basalt (502 in our Clay Factory store) smiles happily.

This was taken from an architectural influence and  replicates a piece of a building for you to wear.

The piece is medium size.

It is stained or antiqued with black Ne-opaque acrylic paint.

And then it is blushed with Super Bronze Lumiere. I have made a few in different stone and metal colors.

Where I have been

I am so sorry to everyone.
I have been getting ready for Sandy Camp, with my local polymer clay guild the San Diego Polymer clay guild.

I have been working on my jobs while trying to watch Madi (my grand daughter), write for the blog, taking care of my etsy store, making stuff, taking care of a gnarly cold (everyone in the house), marking all of my pieces for sale( not done with this as of this writing 10/05/10), making pirate earrings for the board members, making pirate necklaces for the board members, making cards for thank yous (print out all of the pictures and cut the card stock, glue all of the pictures to the cards I folded), pack my stuff to wear, pack my clay to play with, shop for food to take with me, pack goodie bags with board members, post blogs for while I am gone, read, blogs, go to Mrs. B's 31 days of Halloween everyday, do the dishes, clean house and vacuum, feed the cats, clean the cat box, take a moment for myself and my mental health, and I am only getting a piece of all these things done.

Do you ever feel that the world is speeding up? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!

I have been trying to get to read everyone everyday, but my life has been so crazy, I haven't.
I am so sorry, I have missed you all. Maybe when I get back from this, I can get back to a little normal, whatever that is.
I will be closing the Etsy store while I am gone.
I am leaving the family and Madi home to fend for themselves.
I will have my comment moderation on and I also have posts lined up for the week. Do not know if I will have access to my blog. So comment and I will read them when I get back.

I got the cutest post card from Pattee at Odd-Dolls http://odd-dolls.blogspot.com/ She had posted that she had some post cards and stamps made at Zazzle.com http://odd-dolls.blogspot.com/2009/08/zazzle-im-so-excited.html
I jokingly commented that I would like her to send me a card and... She did!!! The stamps are just the cutest things. I think it is awesome that you can put your artwork in a postage stamp... or your grand daughter LOL!!!
Oh my stamps with Madi, I love it. But the face above resting in her little hands is just darling!

Pattee's art work is fun and a little different and well worth visiting her to see what she does.
I love and follow her blog. A good read, pleasant visuals, great art, and a nice person make for a rewarding visit.

Sandy Camp

Well... I am tired and exhausted, but in a very good way! My guild, the San Diego Polymer Clay Guild, just threw our annual event called Sandy Camp. We have it at Warner Springs Ranch in Warner Springs, California every year for the last 8 years, the staff is so very kind to us. It was our 10th anniversary. IT WAS AWESOME! the best ever (imho). It is one of the nicest things, to have one of the best retreats I have ever been to, be part of what and where I am. Many wonderful and dear dear people had five fabulous days of fun, clay, food, spa, neck rubs, laughing, and general chaos. Demos and private little spontaneous classes, mass sharing and big hugs. I made a cone head, Dawn Schiller's competent and guiding light led several of us through an impromptu class, and then more (after I opened my big mouth about it), we loved it Dawn. I think that was the only thing I finished, LOL!!! Say hi to snake man, look at those teeth, that is porcelain white.
My cohorts on the Sandy Camp committee did a great job, in spite of things that sometimes get thrown in the way. We had a great time planning it. What a team.
The people and companies that came through for us went above and beyond the call of duty in supplying us with Goodie Bag stuff and wonderful things for the raffle, it was unbelievable. Thank you all for coming through for us yet again, you are treasured for your generosity in oh so many hearts. You are the best!
You have heard of the perfect storm? Well this was the perfect event, the weather even cooperated with us until the family feast, and even then it wasn't much of a bother. We had homemade cherry fudge and lavender fudge (I can not begin to describe how wonderful this is, except for it is f-ing good, not regular good), cake, pie, and other assorted desserts after that and then... the raffle, or opportunity drawing as it is known by. I won two jackets from Lee Kellogg at StampaFe Art Stamps, I wanted one so badly last year and now I have TWO. Thank you Lee for bringing them again. YAY for me!!!!
And if you get a chance check out her stamps they are wonderful, sacred hearts and shrines and lots of others that are so cool. And... Un-mounted are half the price. Check out deities/religion, hearts, and skeletons for some very interesting stamps, of course, as always, in my humble opinion.

She brings the jackets every year and it is what we all pine for except of course all the other stuff and Jami Millers hand made quilt, which was a show stopper in itself.
And last but not least, the wonderful and vibrant women that came from Israel, thank you all so much for sharing your love, your talent, your country, and your joy with all of us, we are forever better because of the experience.
