Happy Mother's Day

I have a different view than most about Mother's day. I believe that all women are mothers. We  mother others, our pets, our husbands, our wives, our neighbors, our parents, our boyfriends, our girlfriends, our children, our grandchildren, our ideas, our dreams, our coworkers, our friends, our art and our lives. We give birth on a daily basis and it is not always human children.

Happy Mother's day to all of you!

Give birth to love, caring, and joy, we need some in this world.
Madi wants to say Happy Mother's day to you all too, especially to her mother.

She is trying very hard to get into this tiny box.

This is for you Anne, you said you would like to see a different light switch plate and in my spare time I whipped one out for you.
I antiqued it with the black Ne-opaque, but it got darker than I wanted it to.
So I made another so you could see the before the black antiquing.

I like them both.
I am going to antique the little skulls only on this one.
Almost hard to believe I used the same colors on both of them.
Have a wonderful weekend all.

  1. Dear Marie! I couldn't agree with you more. Mother's Day is for us all. I am mommy to my two furry babies. And they DO require a lot of mothering! LOL Happy Mother's Day to you, dearest friend! :) Enjoy the weekend with your loved ones...Theresa

  2. Marie, I agree completely. Women mother everything and everyone. LOL! And where would the world be without us?? :) Please give Madi an extra hug for determination. I love those switchplates! You are amazing. xoxo Pam

  3. Wow I love your new light switches! Are you using them in your house?

One time I was people watching and and the thought came to me... not as profound as I'd like it to be
: ) That every single person was born from a woman. Every single animal was born from a female... at the time I just thought WOW!

Much love to you this Mothers Day week-end!

  4. Wonderful sentiment, Marie! Have a happy one!

    Great switch plates!

  5. HMD to you too! Your switch plates totally rock! Mine are definitely boring, now. I can't imagine how much you could accomplish if you actually had time on your hands.

  6. Giving birth to love, caring, and joy is a lot less painful. And it is much shorter gestation period, too.

Awwww, Madiiiiiii. So curious and determined. Gotta love that.

I LOVE those switchplates! OH MY, I thought I would burst into song when I saw those little skulls! That is fantastic. Love the whimsy and the color. They almost look like cakes. And I really love the antiquing.

Sending you lots of love and warmth, dearest. xoxoxoxo

  7. Happy Mother's Day to you my dearest sisterfriend Marie. Madi is so cute!!!!!!

Yes, they look like cakes. So edible. I love them.

  8. Not fair! Blogger ate my comment!

    So I'm saying it again!

I had to look twice for the skulls, Marie. The colors make me want to dance. What a way to let there be light!

I love how you've acknowledged the mothering women ( and some men) give every day in so many ways. For me being a Mother is my proudest moment for all my life.

Madi's resourcefulness: gee, I wonder where that comes from!!

The happiest day to you, Marie. Xoxoxo
I think you are terrific and amazing

  9. Happy Mother's Day to you, Marie! Madi is precious...those eyes are just pools of love! And the switch covers are wonderful...such great ideas you have!

  10. OMG Marie---The switch plate is killer and the black is PERFECT on it! ( looks like it has been near an open door in NOLA and some of the Mississippi silt has come in thru the air and ground inself into place---that's how it is. that's what I am always looking for in my *dirt* on work!)BEEEEEEEAAUUUUUUTIFUL!!!
    (i cna't spell yet...not enugh coffee!)
And Ces is right--they DO look like cakes that you could just cut with a sharp knife and serve on good china!

    :) ...... :D

  11. Thank you for such lovely and inspiring words. You made me feel wanted!! What a great view on motherhood. Thank you Marie - take care. Big hugs

  12. You're the one who wrote that!!! I have a sister who, although she regretfully has no children of her own, was a second mother to my children, is a loving caring R.N., and mother to her pet and our aging parents, etc. etc. Your post on FB so moved me yesterday it enabled me to give a Mother's Day gift to my sister without "prodding old hurts". Thanks so much for sharing this sentiment on FB. I tried to find it again today to re-post with credit to the person who first posted it and couldn't find it for anything. Happy Mother's Day to you, also and thanks again, with hugs and smiles. Sue C

  13. Marie, thanks for the Mother's Day wishes. I like your post about mothers. How true!

Madi is precious. And I love the beautiful switch plates.

    Have a great Mother's Day!

  14. Nice sentiment, i like ur idea of mothers day!

Like the antique effect on the light switch plate too and those skulls are just too dainty!:)

  15. Happy Mother's Day a bit late. Those light switch plates are adorable. You do so much good with polymer clay. BTW, I got nine comments/compliments on my pin at the Craft Show on Saturday. Surprisingly, most came from jewelry makers. Everyone asked if I bought it at the event and I laughed and said "No, it was a custom piece made specifically for me." I think the jewelry people wanted me to buy one of their wares, but I had the best piece in the entire place.

  16. First, Madi steals the show, as always! Oh those eyes! What a little doll. LoVe the switch plate. You just whipped it up!!! You are so amazing, I mean REALLY AMAZING! I just see you buzzing around all the time! Oh yes to every woman being a is a God given quality in all women to nurture and such a beautiful gift. Happy Mother's Day, my sisterfriend. **blows kisses** Deb
