One foot forward

This is one of my most favorite pieces that I have ever made. It stands on one foot and the basket comes free from the stand. The basket is nothing with out the stand. It will not stand up by itself. It has to lie on its side if the stand is not there. It is also a square basket.
It is an idea that came to me in the night and would not leave my mind until I made it. It is to me is the epitome of human existence. We can not survive with out help from others. Sometimes we are square but we are still beautiful and even though we are one, we belong and are stronger as two or more. Life is a balancing act and it is good as long as you keep one foot forward.

  7. Marie, it really is lovely. You were quite the philosopher with this piece. Did you sketch it out before you made it, or did it just take shape? Always wondering how other people's ideas come to fruition.

  10. Thank you so much Susan. The philosophy usually comes after the contemplation of the piece.
I do draw some things but not many, I thought something was wrong with me but it is just the way I conceive. I can usually build and finish a whole piece in my mind.
I the beginning though I would draw them out and plan but very vaguely.
More than half of the pieces I draw do I ever finish, I tend to work them out in the medium instead.
And if it doesn't work I feature it. LOL!!!
